During the winter of 2009, the Exile Band recorded its debut album, un|broken. The new album consists of 12 all-original tracks written by Exile Band members Mark Calder, Rebecca Hardie and Steph MacLeod, all arranged by Colin Peckham and Dave Biddulph and involving the band, a small choir and members of the Exile Chamber Orchestra.
The name un|broken emerged during the most intense week of the project in a studio on Mull. It arose from a reading of Matthew 12:15-21, about the bruised reed, and from a discussion amongst members of the band on Jacob's wrestling with the Angel of the Lord at Peniel - and the name stuck. You can read an interview by Mark Calder with musical directors Colin Peckham & Dave Biddulph, and recording engineer Euan MacRae online.
