A Seasonal Celebration featuring some of Cape Town's finest musicians and singers - with an eclectic selection of Christmas music styles and your favourite Christmas carols - this is the Cape Town Christmas event of the year!

Origin South Africa, in partnership with Radio Tygerberg 104FM, presents the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra, Rouchelle Liedemann, The Cape Town Gospel Choir, The Tygerberg City Choir, El Shaddai Christian School Primary School choir, and others in an evening you won't forget, mixing traditional and contemporary along with your favourite Christmas carols.

Join us this November for an enchanting evening of Christmas and holiday music for the whole family that will warm your heart and lift your spirits! Our grand Christmas event features a full orchestra, no less than three choirs, and renowned soloists who will bring the magic of the season to life.

Set in the breathtaking and historic Cape Town City Hall, the performance will include timeless Christmas carols (and yes, you can join in!), festive classics, and captivating new arrangements that celebrate the joy and wonder of Christmas.

Security is provided for your vehicles, as well as in and around the City Hall by men with K9 units.

Artistic Director: Colin Peckham
Colin founded Origin in 1997. He studied music at Edinburgh University and theology with the University of South Africa. He served as a music advisor and worship leader for the III Lausanne Congress on World Evangelisation and has directed many orchestras including the All Souls Orchestra and the Cape Town Philharmonic. He is the director of the Cape Town Gospel Choir. He's never happier than when he is writing orchestrations of congregational songs to lift and inspire. He is a missionary with Artists in Christian Testimony Intl, married to Norma with a son.



Rouchelle Liedemann
Rouchelle Liedemann is a South African Christian recording artist and singer who is deeply passionate about inspiring people to a closer walk with Jesus Christ through her singing. She lives out this calling and passion through performing at Churches, Christian music concerts and various other music festivals around the country. She launched her professional music career at the age of 18 after winning a national singing competition and has recorded four gospel albums, and often works with the Cape Town Gospel Choir. She is a presenter on Radio Tygerberg.



Thandolwethu Longo
Thando has performed across Cape Town with SAYC and won several competitions (Western Cape Choral Music Association in 2021 and Cape Town Summerstar competition in 2022). He is currently a student at the University of Cape Town studying BMus in Opera Studies, during which he has played the role of Cochenille in Tales of Hoffman by Jacques Offenbach (2023) then in 2024, Garniero from the long-lost opera by Gaetano Donizetti, Dalinda.



Mikhail Diedricks
Mikhail started singing in his church Sunday school choir. Then he joined the SA Youth Choir and Cape Town Gospel Choir. He has just returned from a six-month singing tour of Mallorca. He loves sharing the message of the Gospel and the joy of music through his singing.



Kyle Jacobs
Kyle's musical career started young when he joined the Cape Town Youth Choir, and then the SA Youth and Cape Town Gospel Choirs where he also performed as a soloist. He has just returned from a six-month singing tour of Mallorca, Spain.



The Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra
Founded in 1914 as the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra in Cape Town is arguably the most versatile and active orchestra on the continent of Africa, contributing handsomely to Cape Town's global status and appeal. Through various incarnations from the Cape Town Municipal Orchestra to the Cape Town Symphony Orchestra, the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra, the Cape Philharmonic Orchestra and finally again the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra, the CPO is financially and culturally sustainable, attracting some of the leading international artists of our time. A multi-functional orchestra, the CPO delivers a world-class orchestra service to all communities in the region, participating in festivals and concerts across all genres of music.



The Cape Town Gospel Choir
The choir was founded in 2010 and returns to the City Hall for the first time since 2019. Skilled in blues, local and international Gospel, classical and contemporary Christian music, the choir has something for everyone, performing in styles varying from classical to blues, jazz to rock and roll. The Cape Town Gospel Choir also has as part of its mission, racial reconciliation in South Africa's broken communities.



Cape Town Gospel Choir Choirmaster: Phil Robinson
Phil joined the Cape Town Gospel Choir in 2023 and brings a wealth of experience to the role. Phil was the founder and conductor of the acclaimed male ensemble "Boschenovas", winners of the Stellenbosch Serenade Group Competition in 1990. In 2013 he took over the reigns as conductor of the internationally acclaimed South African Youth Choir (SAYC). Under his direction, the choir has been awarded "Best Youth Choir" at the prestigious ATKV Animato International Choral Competition for four years consecutively (2014 - 2017).



Tygerberg City Choir
The Tygerberg City Choir was established in 1977 and the choir consists of members mainly from Cape Town's Northern suburbs, but also as far as the Helderberg region and Mitchells Plain. The choir is a family of passionate vocalists and music enthusiasts who come together to create a harmonious symphony of voices, and is directed by Peter Roux. This is not the first collaboration with the Cape Town Gospel Choir - previously the choirs performed together in Symphonic Praise in 2019, also with the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra.



Tygerberg City Choir Choirmaster: Peter Roux
Peter studied Choral Conducting with the Choir Academy of South Africa and is also a distinguished organist. He obtained his Performer's Licentiate (LTCL) in organ from Trinity College of Music (London) in 1990, and the Performer's Licentiate (UPLM) in organ from UNISA in 1991. Peter's other choral activities include that of Conductor of the Tygerberg High School Girls' choir, as well as chorister in Schola Cantorum, the academic choir of the University of Stellenbosch.



El Shaddai Christian School
The primary school's choir and drama department are taking part in Not A Silent Night. Choir directed by Tilla Tredoux, and drama by Sunet Knoblauch. Script by Colin Peckham.
